MassDLA Diversity Statement

The Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association (MassDLA) is strongly committed to the goal of diversity in its membership.

Indeed, diversity allows an organization to respond to a continuously changing world, to adapt and respond to the needs of its members, and assists in furthering partnerships with other bar organizations.

Diversity also has the potential to help empower individuals within its membership. The MassDLA strives to sustain an open exchange of ideas in an environment that embodies the values of professionalism, responsibility, integrity, and cooperation.

The MassDLA, therefore, values the perspectives and varied experiences that are found in a diverse membership. These experiences create a broader, richer environment, resulting in creative thinking and solutions.

Diversity also promotes respect for, and opportunities to learn from, others with a broad range of backgrounds and experiences, helping create an atmosphere of mutual respect, free from racism, sexism, and other forms of prejudice and intolerance.

Accordingly, the MassDLA views the promotion and retention of a diverse membership as important to its success and a contribution toward the growth of its members.

Opportunities for leadership should be accessible to all members and membership should be accessible to all Massachusetts attorneys and others primarily involved in the defense of civil litigation. Thus, the MassDLA embraces and encourages diversity in all aspects of its activities.
